Karo is a visual artist living and working in Brussels since 15 years. She studied graphic arts and narration in the ERG (school of graphic, plastic and visual arts in Brussels).
In her workshop, located in the surroundings of Brussel’s canal, Karo works on her own artistic approach and visual universe by designing graphic identities, painting mural frescoes, illustrating books, posters or creating illustrated performances …amongst many other projects…
Everything Karo creates is related to the vision she got when she was a little child : the part of Beauty and Poetry that lays in Nature and in every little thing. It is this Beauty and Poetry that she tries to express through the various media that she uses.
What is important to her is to share wonder through her paintings, writings and drawings. Doing so, she creates a strong connection with every single person who receives her work.
Karo’s line and the colours that she uses are wild, fluid, often unexpected. Just like an invitation to connect oneself to the mystery of the living – animal, vegetal, human – … to its magic… and to rest in it for a while.
Karo, artiste visuelle formée aux arts graphiques et à la narration, vit et travaille à Bruxelles depuis bientôt 15 ans. Dans son atelier, situé aux abords du canal de Bruxelles, Karo tisse une démarche artistique et crée des univers visuels pour des projets allant du la création d’identités graphiques à la peinture murale, en passant par la conception de livres, d’affiches et de spectacles illustrés. Tout dans le travail de Karo part d’une vision qui l’habite depuis toute petite : la part de beauté et de poésie du réel, décelable en toutes choses et qu’elle tente de transmettre au mieux par différents médiums.
Ce qui lui importe – par son travail de peinture, d’écriture, de dessin – c’est avant tout de transmettre à son tour l’émerveillement reçu de ses parents biologistes quand elle était enfant, de l’infiniment petit à l’infiniment grand.
Les couleurs et le trait de Karo, fluide, sauvage, souvent imprévu, font de ses créations des invitations à se connecter au mystère du Vivant – animal, végétal, humain – à sa magie et à s’y (re)poser un instant.
